Legit.ng earlier reported that Atiku commenced the presentation of witnesses at the presidential election petition tribunal as he challenges the victory of President Buhari in the 2019 election.

NAN reports that some fans think it was a prank eviction or the two were fake housemates sent to spice up the house, a tactic previously used on the show.

@DenikeOlori tweeted, “This has to be a prank!”

@Bigbanky said, “Am I the only one that feels this is a prank?”

During the first live show on June 30, the host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu had warned fans that no two seasons were the same and they should expect the unexpected.

How Senator who assault a woman was arraigned by Nigeria Police.

The police have filed charges of assault against Elisha Abbo, the Nigerian senator seen on camera physically attacking a woman inside an adult store.

Mr Abbo, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party, will be arraigned Monday afternoon at the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Zuba, the police said.

Police spokesperson, Anjuguri Manzah, told PREMIUM TIMES the police filed the charges after looking into Mr Abbo’s conduct in the viral video that was published on July 2 by PREMIUM TIMES.

The senator admitted on July 3 that he was the one in the video and apologised to the female victim and Nigerians, saying such violence should not define his longstanding conduct as a peaceful citizen.

It was not immediately clear whether the senator would plead guilty, but a police source told PREMIUM TIMES his recorded admission of wrongdoing apology would put him in an awkward situation in court.

A police source told PREMIUM TIMES Mr Abbo was being driven to court shortly before 12:00 p.m. for arraignment.

Court officials told PREMIUM TIMES the senator’s arraignment is on the list of cases to be heard today, but he had not arrived in court as of 12:10 p.m.

Everyone within the club from the manager to the owner knows Paul’s wishes–Raiola

(Reuters) – Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is ready to leave the Premier League side in the summer with a transfer “in the process”, the French midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola told the Times newspaper.

Pogba, who moved to United from Juventus in 2016 for a then-world record fee of 89.3 million pounds, has produced inconsistent displays despite scoring 31 goals in 142 appearances in all competitions.

“Everyone within the club from the manager to the owner knows Paul’s wishes,” Raiola told the Times newspaper.

“Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We’re in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.”

British media has linked the 26-year-old World Cup winner with a move to Real Madrid, where he will link up with coach Zinedine Zidane, or a return to former club Juventus.

Pogba had suggested last month in Tokyo that now “could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else”.

He is currently in New York this week on a promotional tour, with United’s squad set to fly out to Australia shortly for a series of pre-season games that begin next week.

Raiola did not confirm if Pogba would make the trip. “I can’t tell you anything. I live day by day,” he added.

United kick off their new league campaign against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Aug. 11.

Why Queen missed Archie’s Christening?

It was a day of celebrating for the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were accompanied by Kate Middleton and Prince William, as well as Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at their son, Archie’s, christening on Saturday.

While the new parents were surrounded by their loved ones, including Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were noticeably absent.

The head of the British monarchy was not in attendance due to prior royal engagements. Royal expert Katie Nicholl told ET on Tuesday that “we don’t believe that the queen is going to be there because of a clash of prior engagements. And we don’t expect the Duke of Edinburgh to be there either.”

Baby Archie’s christening took place in a small, private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle. Official photos of the little one’s special day taken by photographer Chris Allerton and were released after the ceremony. Archie’s godparents were not revealed.

The queen was also absent for Prince Louis’ christening in July of 2018. She bowed out of the event due to royal affairs as well. She did, however, attend Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s christenings.
Meanwhile, ET learned earlier this week that Harry and Meghan are eager for Archie to have “as normal a life as possible.”

“I think the couple is determined for Archie to have as normal a life as possible,” Nicholl told ET. “Prince Harry grew up very much in the spotlight, never far away from the gaze of the cameras, and at points in his life, that’s been something he has resented. My understanding is that at Frogmore, they have essentially built a fortress. One of their closest friends told me it was their oasis — their sanctuary where they’re going to raise their child away from the spotlight.”

Brazil deserved the victory– Peru coach Ricardo Gareca

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) Brazil didn’t need Neymar to win another Copa America title at home.

With its injured star watching from the stands at a packed Maracana Stadium on Sunday, Brazil beat Peru 3-1 to win its first South American title since 2007.

It was Neymar’s replacement, Everton, who led the team to victory, scoring a goal and setting up another to give Brazil its ninth Copa America trophy, and fifth at home.

Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison also scored for Brazil, which has won the title every time it hosted the tournament.

Everton was named player of the final and also finished as one of the tournament’s top scorers with three goals. Brazil’s veteran right back Dani Alves was voted player of the tournament.

Neymar and his son sat close to Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro among the crowd of nearly 70,000 at the Maracana.

Brazilian fans had some reason to worry after Gabriel Jesus was sent off in the 70th minute because of a second yellow card, but Peru couldn’t pull off one last upset after eliminating Uruguay in the quarterfinals and two-time defending champion Chile in the semifinals.

”Brazil deserved the victory,” Peru coach Ricardo Gareca said. ”We played better than we did in the previous match. We have improved as a team. We still have to improve more, but we are on the right track.”

Peru, which had been routed 5-0 by Brazil in the group stage and barely avoided early elimination, was trying to win its first Copa America trophy since 1975 and just its second overall. It hadn’t returned to the final since ’75.

The victory helped Brazil to regain the confidence of some supporters following its quarterfinal exit at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. It will also ease some of the pressure on coach Tite, who had been criticized for his selections and the team’s lackluster performances.

Brazil hadn’t made it past the quarterfinals of the Copa America since beating Argentina 3-0 in the 2007 final in Venezuela. It didn’t even get past the group stage in 2016.

The last time it won the Copa America at home had been in 1989, when Romario scored the winner against Uruguay at the Maracana.

Brazil’s only other trophy since 2007 came in the 2013 Confederations Cup, also at home.

Brazil arrived as a heavy favorite but it was an even match from the start, with the hosts not being able to press too much despite being urged on by most of the crowd at the Maracana.

Everton opened the scoring in the 15th from close range after a well-placed cross by Gabriel Jesus, who made a surging run down the right flank.

The 23-year-old Everton was elevated to the starting lineup after Neymar was ruled out of the tournament because of an ankle injury.

Veteran striker Paolo Guerrero equalized for Peru by converting a 44th-minute penalty kick after a handball by Brazil defender Thiago Silva. It was the only goal conceded by Brazil in six matches.

Gabriel Jesus put the hosts ahead again in the third minute of first-half stoppage time with a low shot after an assist from midfielder Arthur.

Peru tried to take control after Gabriel Jesus was sent off for a hard foul on an opponent, but the visitors were not able to create many significant chances.

Brazil sealed victory when Richarlison, who had missed a few matches because of the mumps, converted a penalty kick in the 90th after Everton was fouled.

Both penalty kicks had to be delayed for video reviews.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, July 6, pledged his administration’s continued political will and determination towards ridding the country of insurgency and other forms of criminalities.
Buhari, who was represented by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, made the promise at the Grand Finale of the 2019 Nigerian Army Day Celebration and Combat Support Arms Training Week at Ikeja Cantonment Parade Ground, Lagos, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Nigerian Army Day Lagos is an annual event held every July 6, since 1976, in honour of the Nigerian Army with the theme;

‘Professionally Responsive Soldering:A Panacea for Successful Military Operations’.

The president said that the security challenges in the country were being tacked in collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces.

“The challenge for us is to recognise this sick extremism of Boko Haram for what it is and form alliances across faith, ethnicities, to destroy an evil that confronts us all. We will continue to demonstrate the political will and determination towards ensuring that our land is rid of insurgency and that criminality is kept at the barrest minimum.

“There are also other situations of insecurity in our midst, the Fulani Herder and farmer conflicts, random killings, banditry and kidnapping. In different parts of the country, there are challenges that the army has had to intervene in, in many occasions.

“We assure all Nigerians that this challenges are been seriously tackled by the federal government working with the states through a multi-pronged approach, working with the Nigerian Army and all our security forces and law enforcement agencies.

“Nobody will be allowed to maim, kill or commit other crimes and escape. It is our duty to apprehend and punish these criminals and we are doing that and we will continue to do so.”

Buhari urged the judiciary to ensure timely dispensation of justice in the cases of arrested bandits.

According to him,

“Several bandits’ hideouts and camps have been destroyed and hundreds of arrests have been made. It is now up to our Judiciary to ensure that justice is meted out, not just comprehensively, but in a timely manner.”

The president said his administration would intensify efforts to bring back the remaining Chiboks girls, Leah Shuaribu and others who were still in captivity.

According to him,

“We want to reassure the affected families and friends that this administration will not relent in its efforts to bring back all the remaining girls including Leah Shuaribu, who has become a postal child for the heinous activities of Boko Haram insurgency. We will reunite them with their families and friends by the Grace of God.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari directed immediate reinforcement of the security architecture to Katsina state, and the prosecution of those involved in the conflict.

The president commiserated with families that lost loved ones in the attacks from herdsmen, assuring the state that the security structure would be further strengthened.

The National Council for Women Society (NCWS), FCT chapter, on Sunday, July 7, rejected the apology tendered by Senator Elisha Abbo, for assaulting a nursing mother in an Abuja adult toy shop recently.

How Alex recently branded Jennifer as a superhero.

Alex Rodriguez heaped praise on his fiancée Jennifer Lopez after she struggled with a tough show.

In a tour diary from her ‘It’s My Party’ tour, shared onto her YouTube channel over the weekend, Jennifer is battling clogged sinuses as she performs in San Jose, California, and Las Vegas.

She tells him: “It was a tough show for me.”

To which he replies:

“It was the best show I’ve seen so far. It was Saturday night in Vegas and you guys killed it. And you showed why you’re a champion, baby. Every time I see the show it keeps getting better and better and better. But wait, I don’t know what you’re talking about! Your voice was the best I’ve ever heard it! Babe, when you held that note, are you kidding me? And your voice … by the way, you’ve never sounded better.”

Meanwhile, Alex recently branded Jennifer as a superhero.

He said:

“I’ve never met anyone who’s more honest. She’s so authentic and genuine. It was strange to see someone of such magnitude be so normal, be such a great mother and partner and friend. How can you be like this and then go perform in front of 80,000 people? But that’s her superpower.”

Jennifer recently said she was “wary” of the idea of marrying Alex after having already gone through three divorces but when he got down on one knee, it just felt right.

She said:

“I was very wary after everything I’ve been through. I was just sussing it out until then. I was like, ‘I don’t know, maybe yes, maybe no, I really love [Alex], I like him.’ Everything seemed almost too perfect too soon, so I was like, ‘Wait, what’s happening?’ When it happened, I think it was the right time – we knew.

“It’s great to have a best friend and a partner you can really build with, and I just feel like, with Alex and I, that’s what it’s like. We’re very similar … it’s one of those things, you meet a like-minded person who is trying to be the best person they can be and always trying to grow, and then they help you grow and you help them grow. I’m better here, he’s better there and we’re better together.”

Nigeria is the 53rd state on the continent to append its signature to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement

The Federal Government said it has identified 22 products from none oil sector from which the country can earn $30,000 billion and create 500,000 export oriented jobs annually.
This is coming after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement at the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union on AfCFTA and the First Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union AU and the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) in Niamey, Niger Republic.

Nigeria is the 53rd state on the continent to append its signature to the document.

Executive Director of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Segun Awolowo, disclosed this to State House Correspondents at the weekend after briefing President Buhari.

The NEPC boss who briefed the president on the zero oil implementation plan after he was asked for an update said: “I briefed him on the setting up of national committee on export promotion by National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by the governor of Jigawa State and what we are working in order to diversify the economy.

“What we hope to achieve is to raise more revenue for Nigeria from other sources. You know 90 percent of our revenue is from oil and we cannot survive. Even though oil prices are rising a bit because of Iran, there is problem there. But we should not rest on our oars because, those days of $140 per barrel is gone forever. So we have to look inwards and produce more.

“The zero oil plan is about raising production and productivity, we identified 22 sectors where we can earn foreign exchange apart from oil. We are hoping that in the next 10-15 years we will be able to raise $150 billion from sources outside oil. That is what we are working on and we are galvanizing the whole states behind us in other to raise production and productivity. We are working with the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to achieve this. You know the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN just announced an initiative on five of our products and giving them low interest rates to farm and raise production.”

Awolowo said the sectors include cocoa, cotton, cement, leather, cashew, Sesame, Shea butter, palm oil, fertilizer, petrochemicals, rubber among others.

“Cocoa is an immediate win for us because, its been our number one none oil revenue making. But we are on less than 300,000 metric tons, Ghana is heading to 900,000, Cote d’ Ivoire almost two million metric. So, how do we compete? Meanwhile if you see the landmass in Nigeria you can imagine what we can do. Another sector is Shea nut, cashew is another breadwinner for us, so let’s raise production, let’s give our farmers, plantations low interest loan so that they can raise production for us. We are also looking at value addition for all because that is the way you create jobs, we cannot continue to sell the raw materials.”

Awolowo who said he presented to President Buhari some tomatoes and Bell peppers from a green house in Benin and Casanovas, cassava chips a cottage industry is producing in Idu Industrial Estate that is already being exported to Germany, added:

“That is the future for Nigeria. We are about to enter into African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement, which is the biggest in the world, we don’t want to be a dumping ground and that is why Mr. President refused signing until we are ready. We must be competitive, we must produce more, and we must help our manufacturers get into this market.”

On packaging and substandard products, the NEPC boss said:

“Our products are no longer substandard and we are exporting all over West Africa and Inter-land Africa. We have a few challenges here and there but I always tell people, the journey of processing raw materials to producing goods is not going to happen over night. We are going to have rejects but we will not succumb to them. Our packaging is improving and we are even packaging and labeling in different languages so we can get into those markets, particularly when Africa opens up for us now.”
