Miley Cyrus to replace Cardi B at Primavera Sound festival

Miley Cyrus has been drafted in to replace Cardi B at Spain’s Primavera Sound festival.

Cardi was due to perform at the event, taking place at Barcelona’s Parc del Forum waterfront complex on 31 May (19), but the rapper has pulled out due to unavoidable promotional commitments in the United States, and organisers announced on Friday (04Apr19) that Miley has stepped in.

“Primavera Sound welcomes Miley Cyrus, an icon of contemporary pop in all its dimensions,” a statement reads.

“The author of Bangerz doesn’t need an introduction but a bit of contextualisation may help: from country to urban pop passing through her psychedelic experimentation with The Flaming Lips, Ms Cyrus has positioned herself as one of the most non-conformist voices of the current star system, while also contributing to the gender discourse that makes her a perfect fit for the year of The New Normal at Primavera Sound.”

Explaining Cardi’s absence, the festival organisers added: “At the same time, we regret to announce that Cardi B will not perform at Primavera Sound 2019. The American artist has cancelled her appearance due to promotional commitments in the United States that cannot be postponed.”

Ticketholders disappointed to miss out on seeing Cardi have been offered refunds.

Miley joins the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen, Janelle Monae, and Robyn, who will perform on the Friday night at the weekend event. Solange, Tame Impala, and Charli XCX are also on the bill, which runs from 30 May to 1 June.

Meanwhile, Miley has booked another big European festival after confirming she’ll be performing at England’s Glastonbury festival in June (19).

We now have fraudsters working inside banks – Magu

The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has accused banks of conniving with Bureau De Change operators to launder money and commit other illegal activities.
The EFCC boss, who spoke in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Friday, April 5, during a meeting with compliance officers of banks in the south-south zone, said fraudsters now work in Nigerian banks, Vanguard reports.

Magu said: “You cannot fight corruption in isolation, that is why we are having this meeting today with Compliance officers of banks. We have to join hands including the journalists to succeed in this fight.

“A lot of laundering activities today are going on in the bank. This is because a lot of them connive with Bureau De Change agents. We have discovered that many of these operators of Bureau De Change are foreign nationals. Banks give them chance and they launder our money and they finance terrorism. Banks also help politically exposed persons to steal funds. They give life to internet fraudsters through Money Gram and Western Union.

“Unfortunately, we now have fraudsters working inside the banks. They subject people’s account into intimidation and extortion. We want to put our mercenary to deal with such bankers.”

Meanwhile, previously reported that Magu on Thursday, April 4, said that the anti-graft agency, between January, 2018 and the first quarter of 2019, recovered N251 billion, multi-million dollar worth of jewelleries like gold and trapped taxes.

Magu revealed this at the ongoing 2018/2019 budget defence organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes, headed by Kayode Oladele.

Ailing nurse alleges to having swapped 5,000 babies within 12 years for fun

Elizabeth Mwewa confessed her sins on her hospital bed

  • The former nurse who is suffering from cancer revealed she exchanged about 5,000 babies while working at the hospital

  • Mwewa added that it became a habit and she used to do it for fun

  • The sick nurse asked God for forgiveness

Nurses are seen as caregivers in the hospital and patients are supposed to feel safe and taken care of in their charge.

However, some nurses have proven to be the devil in human form.

I swapped about 5,000 Babies in 12 years I worked in maternity ward at UTH – Elizabeth Mwewa

A Zambian nurse, Elizabeth Mwewa, has confessed her sins on her sick bed as she asked God for forgiveness, Zambian Observer reported.

The nurse who used to work at The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Zambia confessed that she has exchanged over 5000 babies during 12 years of service.

“I have terminal cancer and I know I will be dying soon. I wish to confess my sins before God and before all the affected people especially those who were giving birth at UTH during my service,” she said.

According to the elderly woman, she is now born again and did not want to hide anything that would stop her from visiting the land of honey and milk.

” I have nothing to hide, In the 12 years I worked in the maternity ward at UTH, I swapped close to 5000 babies,” she confessed.

Mwewa added that it became a habit and she used to do it for fun which has now acknowledged that she has sinned against God and Zambians and would want them to forgive her.

“I know I sinned against God and may he forgive me for that. I am also asking Zambians to forgive me for the evil things I was doing to innocent children. I have caused some faithful couples to divorce after going for DNA Tests,” she said.

She also put the blame on the devil whom she claimed was using her to commit the sins she’s most regretful now.

“I have caused many mothers to breastfeed children who are not theirs biologically. I don’t want to go to Hell for that, Am really sorry I have sinned alot. Please forgive me,” she begged.

Mwewa also added that kids born between 1983 to 1995 at the hospital should check themselves particularly if they look different from their other siblings.

“If you were born in UTH between the years 1983 to 1995 chances are your parents may not be your biological parents. I had developed a habit of swapping newly born babies just for fun,” she said.

So take a good look at your siblings, if for example everyone is light and you are darkie… you are that child and I am really sorry for that,” she added.

It is strange how someone can think swapping babies is fun.

How can Anthony improve his productivity?

Anthony has been a colleague, a classmate and a friend of over two decades but at a point we lost contact.

Not quite long, around two weeks ago, as I was rushing to catch up with an appointment in the city mall, I sighted his face from afar sitting down in one of the eateries that has its stand in the city mall. He seems to be relaxing but not really aware of his environment. He was carried away in deep thought.

He didn’t recognize my presence as I kept walking to him. Though, he might find it difficult recognizing my face because time has really changed my physique.

Hey buddy!!!How are you?

Can you recognize this face?

Yeah!!!I am tying to figure it out. This is a familiar face that I shouldn’t forget. Anthony submitted.

I turned one of the vacant chair and took my seat. Then, I helped him by mentioning my name and remind him of all the moments we had together in our elementary days while in School. It was at this point that Anthony got the full consciousness of who is sitting down with him now.

A wild shout engulfed the whole atmosphere and people around were caught unaware of what could have happened as an explanation for the wild and loud outburst.

Then, we sat down after hugging each other and gist of past days started until we got to the present.

Then, at a point in the course of our discussion when we got to discussing success and career, Anthony managed to asked me about what has been bothering him since the beginning of 2019.

How can I improve my productivity in this year? Anthony asked.

I looked at his face and jokingly I told him that I am neither a Pastor, a counsellor or a motivational speaker but he insisted that he is short of ideas and he needs just one insight that might be needed for him at this moment.

Then, we get talking and I promised to give him about 3 means by which someone can improve his productivity.

These are:

1.Personal appraisal of previous efforts, performance and results based on the effectiveness of results and outcome.

2.Setting timely and strategic goals and objectives.

3.Sourcing for necessary and needed exposure in terms of information, education and ability to be a mentee to mentors who has gone ahead of you in your chosen or interested field of endeavor.

Oh! My God!!!

You are an angel. You have opened my mind to what I have been thinking about for days now. I can see reason in what you highlighted now. Anthony submitted.

Never mind. I am still your friend.

I will soon be on my way. Just give me your digit.

I hope to see you soon so that we can sit down again and talk more about our discussion.

See you soon.

Bye for now.

See you again bro…Anthony waved.

Suspect in Nipsey Hussle shooting charged with murder at court appearance

LOS ANGELES — Eric Holder, the 29-year-old aspiring rapper who is accused of fatally shooting Nipsey Hussle on Sunday, was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, during a court appearance Thursday afternoon.

The criminal complaint also includes allegations that he personally used a firearm and caused great bodily injury and death.

Holder was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of killing Hussle and wounding two other people in the attack.

Hussle, a celebrated rapper and community activist, was outside his shop on Slauson Avenue when a man approached and opened fire. Hussle was fatally wounded and two others were also shot. Police alleged Holder had gotten into a dispute with Hussle earlier in the day and returned with a gun and started shooting. He then fled in a waiting car, police said.

Graphic video from a surveillance camera shows a gunman walking up to Hussle and two other men in front of the shop. The gunman opens fire, and Hussle falls to the ground as the other men run from the gunfire.

Holder went by the moniker Fly Mac. He sang of body bags, “38 gun blasts” and bloody homicides. Holder is also believed to be a gang member, LAPD Chief Michel Moore said. But police do not believe the shooting had anything to do with gang rivalries.

Holder was convicted in 2012 of carrying a loaded firearm and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and three years’ probation, court records show.

A two-day manhunt ended Tuesday when a resident in Bellflower told authorities a man matching the description of Holder was walking down Artesia Boulevard. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies raced to the scene and found Holder standing in a parking lot of a business.

Confronted by deputies, he offered no resistance and surrendered without incident.

The woman who drove the getaway car turned herself in to authorities Monday and is continuing to cooperate with detectives. She has not been arrested, said Josh Rubenstein, LAPD’s director of communications.

According to two sources familiar with the investigation, the woman has insisted to detectives that she never knew Holder intended to harm Hussle and was aware of the shooting only in the aftermath.

The role of the driver remains an issue of debate in the Hyde Park community where the shooting occurred.

Community activist Najee Ali is calling for the immediate arrest of the driver.

Beyonce allegedly left Reebok meeting over lack of diversity

Before she inked her partnership deal with Adidas, Beyonce met with plenty of other brands, but she apparently left one meeting quickly after taking a look around the room.

According to ESPN writer Nick DePaula, Beyonce walked out of a meeting with Reebok because she felt there was a lack of diversity with the brand. Reebok, though, says nothing could be further from the truth.

Beyonce eventually signed on to be a creative partner with Adidas. In the role, she’ll design shoes and clothes.

“Throughout this process over the last year or two she had discussed with Under Armour, with Reebok as well, Jordan [at Nike] at one point was interested in maybe partnering with her,” Nick told ESPN’s “The Jump.” “She had a meeting at Reebok and they had a whole presentation of everything, potential products, how this could all look, and she kind of took a step back and said, ‘Is this the team that will be working on my product?'”

Beyonce was told yes.

“She said, ‘Nobody in this room reflects by background, my skin color and where I’m from and what I want to do,'” the ESPN writer said. “So she took a step back and left and then it did not come to terms.”

Nick added, “For her, it really goes beyond that. It’s not just about putting her name on a shoe and here’s the new Adidas Beyonce 1, or whatever they end up calling it. It’s about having an imprint on the company and an impact in terms of diversity.”

A rep for Reebok told TMZ, “The report that Beyoncé walked out of a meeting with Reebok due to lack of diversity is categorically false. Our discussions with Beyoncé and her team continued for several months after our initial meeting. We are disappointed that false information is being reported as fact.”

On Thursday, Beyonce and Adidas formally announced they had agreed on a deal.

“This is the partnership of a lifetime for me,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business.”

Pele remains hospitalized in Paris with urinary infection

PARIS — Pele remains in a Paris hospital two days after he was admitted with a urinary infection, his spokesman said.

Pepito Fornos told The Associated Press that the three-time World Cup champion was still hospitalized despite an initial prediction he would be released Friday.

Pele’s social media channels posted a message from the 78-year old earlier in the day thanking his fans for their support.

“The antibiotics are working and the tests are all positive,” he wrote. “I feel so much better, I think I’m ready to play again!”

Brazilian daily O Estado de S. Paulo reported that Pele is preparing to return to Brazil to continue treatment at the Albert Einstein hospital, but Fornos did not confirm that information.

Pele, admitted on Wednesday, has been hospitalized frequently in the last few years with kidney and prostate issues.
